There is a growing global demand for computer scientists to create tools that improve the quality of life and advance human development. Innovation and entrepreneurship in ICT has been identified in the Human Resource Development Strategy of Barbados as an essential enabler of national competitiveness. Effective technology education on all levels will be required in order to help aspiring computer scientists achieve their dreams and change the world. Code Island Kids Summer Programme addresses the requirements needed to develop and deliver a coherent track of foundation courses for cadres of young Barbadian computer scientists. This programme responds to the need for the provision of an adequate level of ICT training to a set of beginners aged six (6) and fourteen (14) years.
